Mastering Video Platforms in a Digital World

In my journey at Full Sail University, transitioning from the structured world of logistics to the creative strategy of digital marketing, few courses have been as immediately valuable as Video-Sharing Platforms (VID1555).

This class wasn't just about pressing record; it was a deep dive into the strategic pillars of modern content and how to leverage the world’s most powerful communication tool—video. It taught me to view platforms like YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram Reels not as social networks, but as complex, algorithmic search engines where content must be optimized for discovery, engagement, and conversion.

Let me remind you all that I’m almost in my 40’s, and was just getting out of school when social media really took off. I sometimes feel very out of place and extremely behind when it comes to media and media creation. You can say, I’m old school, but it was a learning curve in and of itself just use the programs. Thankfully, Full Sail has an awesome program that is covered in your tuition, which came in and saved the day! Project Launchbox is an exclusive Full Sail computer program where they send you a brand new MacBook Air and iPad a16 and access to the full Adobe suite of programs through the Creative Cloud

Key Takeaways and Marketable Skills

The "Video-Sharing Platforms" course provided an essential bridge between my analytical background and my new creative path. It focused on the fusion of hands-on production with data-driven strategy.

The Resilient Marketer's Tool

The most profound lesson was recognizing that video is no longer optional; it is central to digital marketing strategy (Adobe, 2025). As AI tools automate ad placement and basic copy, the need for human creativity and high-value video content—content that builds brand trust and engages emotion—is paramount.

My experience in Supply Chain taught me to optimize flow and reduce friction. I now apply that thinking to the customer journey: ensuring a video not only captures attention but drives a smooth, measurable path to conversion. By learning how to create and optimize video content, I have equipped myself with one of the most in-demand and future-proof skills for any business looking to grow and thrive in the next decade.

My First Shot With Long Format Videos

I was pretty proud of this one! It was challenging at first stumbling through the program features, and watching tutorials, but I like the end result. I know there is still so much more to learn and you can find some very helpful YouTube videos about Adobe, Filmora, ClipChamp and more with such a wealth of knowledge for any project that you might be doing.

Social Media

A very important platform of course is your social media network of choice, or a combination thereof. Social media is the fastest, most direct way to reach anyone with your content. While I’m not yet making real advertisements, I’m still learning the basics, but I am proud of what I’ve accomplished so far.
